Today's Thought

There are two ways to get enough;
one is to continue to accumulate more and more.
The other is to desire less.

Keeping up - More photos

Here are some more of the photos I have taken the last few days.  Again these are for the 365+1 photo album.  Yes I hope to, by the end of this year, have 365+1 photos to put into an album to show my 2012 year.

The subjects these time were:  Nails, Duplicate and Rust.

Any one in need of nails?

This is a picture of just a few of the nails we have at the house here.  My husband had the frame of our house build about 30 years ago and has since been finishing the inside on his own.  He is almost done but there are still a few things left to finish.  So we still need to keep a supply of nails on hand.

Treats for us and the animals
Yes we had to go shopping for treats for the deer, cats and ourselves.  As you can tell the deer eat way more than we do but I do hope this will last us for the next couple of months.  But the way they are eating and gathering around our bird feeders I doubt that it will be.  We now get 7 deer coming to feed on a regular basis.

Rust, rust and rust.
I believe this rake use to be green but I may be mistaken.  Yes rust is a normal occurrence here because we live close to a lake and that brings lots of moisture in our air.  Also it does not help when you leave your tools sitting outside of course.

More 365+1 photos

Some more of my 365+1 project photos.  It has been a very cold week here so photo taking was limited to the house more or less.

These are my last POTD

This photo has the subject EARLY.  Yes it is very early to see these tulips pop out of the snow.  I do have to admit that I cheated a bit but it looks real right?

Here is my photo for the subject My Little Word.  Which is DO for me.  And I had to input my data for the Feederwatch Canada project still.  It is done now and we are almost ready to do our next count for this week.

This photo has the subject "What is for Breakfast"  it  shows you what I eat every morning for breakfast.  The biscuit is part of the prop so it is not a regular item for my breakfast.

The breakfast was the subject for January 22.

Test Post

This is a test post as I just followed a tutorial on how to make your own hand drawn frame.  Now it is not the best frame but I have to figure out how to save it for the web more than anything.  The tutorial was for Photoshop but I was able to do it all in Photoshop Elements.

I saved it as a PNG file to give it a tranparent background.  Now white was not such a smart colour to choose for the frame so I will have to go back to the drawing board and change the frame colour.  Watch for my next frame to show up sometime today.

So Far - So Good

Yes I am doing good so far.  I have been able to keep up with the photographs and the subjects every day.  And even posting my photographs here has been pretty regular.  I have to say I am learning lots thanks to Katrina Kennedy's daily posts.  She always has that extra explaining her Inspiration of the Day.  Some photographic background as well which has been very informative.  I hope that by the end of the year I can see the difference between my pictures from now and then.
The 'inspirations for today were:  High Noon and Black and White.
First High Noon.
As you can tell it is 12 o'clock.  Now this could also be 12 midnight but I promise I would never take a picture at midnight unless it was New Year's Eve.

And this is the Black and White picture.
This is a regular visitor at our house these days.  She comes with her baby  to eat .  She eats all the bird food from our feeders and also the oats I throw out for the deer to eat.  This year we have had up to 7 deer eating at the same time.
I don't know if I like this picture better in B & W or in colour.

Same picture as above but in colour.
I think she is so cute with all the seeds sticking to her nose.

Another day with 365+1

Here we are again with some of my POTD for the 365+1.  Todays inspirations were Torn and Tattered and Gennifer Bursett's inspiration was Your Camera for today.

I took a different look at the camera.  Did not take a picture of my camera but one of another item I use as a camera.  My scanner.

My other 'camera'
And now for Katrina Kennedy's inspiration Torn and Tattered.  My DIL asked me to fix this pair of pants for her a while ago and have not done so as yet.  But they sure make a nice photograph for the Torn and Tattered subject.  Oh btw these are new pants after they were washed once.

Torn and Tattered
Not too many pictures today as I am trying to use my Wacom tablet and everything takes me at least twice as long as it does using a mouse.  They say that I should use the tablet for three days or so without ever going back to the mouse and I will be a pro on using it then.  We will see.

New Day with New Photographs

Trying to keep up with my daily pictures so here I am again.  By doing it daily I am able to show more photos I took during the day.  Today the Inspiration subjects are Hat and Remember.

This falls into our Hat inspiration - Black Capped Chicadee

And this is again the Hat subject -  A fisherman with  a Sou'wester hat wood carving.

This is not a woodcarving but my husband with a Sou'wester hat.  He uses the hat to keep the sunshine out of his eyes when working.  This is also the Picture of the Day for me.

This is the other inspiration we had for today (Katrina Kennedy)  - Remember.
Now back to organizing and tagging my photos so I can find them in the future.

Here are some more pictures I have taken the last few days.

Of course I did take more pictures than the ones I posted earlier so I like to share these with you as well.

Chassis of a Model Steam Locomotive.  The person making this locomotive makes all his own gears, rods, wheels, cogs and such.
More detail on the Chassis of the Locomotive
This is just one of the wheels of the locomotive.  Again this wheel was fabricated by the builder of the locomotive using specialized precision equipment and a computer to run the equipment.

This is a picture, painted on the side of a truck, of the model locomotive above.

The truck to transport the locomotive to different displays.

And now back to something totally different.  Photographs of birds I see on our feeders.  And because we had a very cold night and some snow they all showed up during the day to get some much needed food.

Male Pine Grosbeaks
Male Pine Grosbeak and male Red Poll.
Well this is it for today.  Tomorrow is another day with new things to photograph.

Some more of my 365+1 Pictures

Here are some more of my 365+1 pictures I am trying to do this year.  The picture taking is not the most difficult but getting them of my camera and cataloging them in PSE takes a lot of time.  But I am caught up again and will show some of my picks.  I am following 2 Inspiration Lists.  One by Katrina Kennedy and the other by Gennefer Bursett from Design House Digital.  Sometimes I am able to combine both inspirations and sometimes I only was able to capture just one.

Here are some of my photos.

Jan 03 - Inspiration was a Fresh Perspective and Panic.  Well this is the panic .

Jan 04 - With a wide aperture.  Morning sunrise with a Blue Jay sitting in the tree.

Jan 06 - Framed by a doorway.  My cat, mad, sitting outside not wanting to come in as I had just vacuum cleaned the house.

Jan 07 - Clean or One Little Word.  Well my word was clean.  My husband cleaning up his Christmas Village.

Jan 09 - Pie and Brisk.  My sweetie Pie biking Briskly  to get his exercise for the day.

Jan 10 - Flat and Inspired by.  This is my husband working on his pictures which in turn inspires me to take  more pictures as well.

Jan 11 - Bank and With a Narrow Aperture.  Here I played with the aperture on my camera.

Jan 12 - Yellow and 12.  As you can tell 12 yellow items.

Jan 13 - Unlucky and Together.  Is it unlucky to have two different colours together?

Jan 14 - Leaf and Defined.  This is a drawing of part of a steam locomotive.  Pretty Defined right?

Jan 15 - Hallway and In detail.  I guess having these ice crystals is detailed alright.

Hope you enjoy the pictures I have taken so far.

Time for a new post

Hello All,
First of all wishing all of you the best for 2012.
What are your resolutions this year?  Mine is to focus on my photography, digital scrap booking and the usual.
I am trying to participate in the 365+1 with Katrina Kennedy (Capture 365+1) and hope to take at least 1 picture a day for the rest of the year.  So far so good.

Today my husband and I went out to take pictures of the sunset and these are some of my results.  I did get some photographic help from my husband.

This is my picture of the day for today
